Tips for ceramic tile grouting:

  • Always choose a grout that is slightly lighter than the tile itself.
  • Read the instructions before adding that, this is exactly what happens.
  • Make sure you have the right joint crosses in advance.

Grout is a cement-based or epoxy-based material used to fill the gaps between tiles. It not only provides a neat finish, but also protects against moisture, dirt, and wear.

There are two main types of grout: cement-based and epoxy grout. Cement-based grout is the most common and suitable for most tile applications. Epoxy grout is more durable, water-repellent, and chemical-resistant, making it ideal for wet areas and high-traffic surfaces.

The drying time varies per type of grout and ambient temperature. On average, the surface is walkable after 24 hours, but full curing can take up to 7 days. Epoxy grout generally dries faster than cement-based variants.

Fresh grout residue can be removed with a damp sponge. For hardened grout, a special cement film remover or a soft scouring pad can be used.
