You're probably familiar with those elongated chocolate bars in their bright red packaging. KitKat bars are divided into small, elongated strips that you can break off.
The KitKat shape of these chocolate bars is now also being replicated in tile mats used as wall tiles (wainscoting in, for example, a toilet or hallway, and sometimes even as floor tiles in small spaces). The latest trend in ceramic wall tiles for indoor use are these trendy KitKat tiles, also known as tile fingers or KitKat mosaic tiles.

KitKat tile mats and KitKat mosaic
KitKat tiles are mainly available in the form of tile mats. You can probably imagine that it's not fun to place all these loose tiles one by one on the wall or floor. Just like with mosaic, this is possible, of course.
The advantage of KitKat tile mats is that you get ready-made mosaic pieces of tile size. These tile mats can be placed on the wall or floor in one go. Often these tile mats are 30x30 cm and they are flexible. Because the tiles are attached to a plastic mat, they are flexible. The flexibility of KitKat tile mats makes them extremely suitable for round shapes.
What are KitKat tiles made of?
KitKat tile mats are made of KitKat mosaic. This refers to mosaic in the form of ceramic tile strips, or porcelain. KitKat mosaic can be made from glazed porcelain tiles or matte ceramic tiles. The first variant is glossy and the second variant is matte.
Types of KitKat tile mats
We can divide KitKat tiles into two variants: tile mats with small, or mini, KitKat tiles, and mats with larger KitKat tiles. KitKat tile mats are also available in all colors of the rainbow.
Mini KitKat tile mats
The mini KitKat tiles are almost the size of real KitKat bars, namely 12x92x8mm. The tiles are 9.2 cm long, 1.2 cm wide, and 8mm thick. The grout line width of the mini KitKat tiles is also narrower than with the larger variant, so that the overall look remains proportionate.

Standard KitKat tile mats
The tile mats with the larger tile variant consist of KitKat tiles measuring 2x14.5cm, also with a thickness of 8mm. The grout lines of the tile mats with larger KitKat fingers are often 3mm.

What are KitKat tiles suitable for?
Tile mats can, in principle, be used for all walls and floors in the house. That is, if the tiles on the mats are made of the right materials.
KitKat tile mats are made of ceramic tiles and/or porcelain tiles. The quality of these tiles is high and therefore suitable for almost all purposes. Nevertheless, we list the most common ways to incorporate KitKat tiles into an interior.

As seen in image 4 above, you can install KitKat tiles as wall tiles for the backsplash in the kitchen. KitKat tiles are made of ceramic or glazed porcelain, and both types are waterproof, easy to clean, and therefore perfect for the kitchen.

A second popular way to use KitKat tile mats is in the toilet. When you have to choose tiles for the toilet, you run into a problem: there is simply too much choice.
Do you want to create an atmospheric toilet with a tile that's just a little different from the rest? Choose KitKat tiles in, for example, a bright yellow color as shown above. A real eye-catcher that your guests won't forget.

Almost every bathroom features floor tiles and wall tiles. If you don't want standard ceramic tiles or square white tiles in your bathroom like everyone else, choose KitKat tiles for the bathroom.
They are trendy, fit all styles, are very easy to clean, and above all, all the small grout lines provide a non-slip floor or wall.

The mats are flexible, allowing you to easily bend them around round shapes.
