Then one of the aspects you have to think about is installing a floor and perhaps also installing a new kitchen. But which of the two do you actually do first? First the floor or first the kitchen? What is useful? And how do you actually fly that to me a kitchen island? In this blog we dive deeper into these questions for you and answer all your questions.
First floor or first kitchen?
In principle, it is possible to place a kitchen on top of an existing floor, but this is not recommended. This is specifically possible with paste PVC, also called dryback PVC, and real wooden floors. However, we often advise not to do this because the piece of floor under the kitchen can in principle be considered as lost meters and you could have saved this in the purchase. In addition, there is a huge chance that the floor under the kitchen, if you ever remove the kitchen again, will look different from the rest of the floor. For all other types of floors, we always recommend installing the kitchen first and only then the floors. This saves you in purchase costs, but it also gives you more freedom.

Also useful for determining color
First placing the kitchen and then the floor is useful, among other things, for determining the color of the floor. Not every kitchen fits every floor and vice versa. When the kitchen is first installed, you can in many cases, if desired, then determine the color of the floor. At Solza.nl we can generally deliver very quickly and it is possible, for example, to order test samples of the floors. This way you can first compare the floors with the color of your kitchen.
Installing kitchen on laminate
Do you have a laminate floor for the kitchen or perhaps a click PVC floor in mind? Then we strongly advise you not to place the kitchen on the floor. These types of floors lie floating on the surface and this has the reason that the floorboards must still be able to work (expand and shrink). If you were to place a kitchen on top of these types of floors, the floor has fewer possibilities to work due to the weight and there will eventually be a high chance of seams, cracks, spherical shelves or worse.

How to deal with a kitchen island?
Would you also like to incorporate a beautiful cooking island into your new kitchen? We totally understand you. In addition to being very beautiful, a kitchen island also has many practical advantages. When we look at placing a cooking island in combination with a floor and which one will have to be installed first, in principle the same regulations apply as for placing a kitchen in general. No one is stopping you from placing the kitchen island on top of the floor, but we do advise against it. Due to the weight of the kitchen island, this can result in creaky floors or worse. In the ideal situation, place the floor around the kitchen island and finish it neatly. This way you can be sure that you can enjoy both the floor and the kitchen with cooking island for a long time to come.
